I honestly never thought I would be writing a post like this here in this space.
When I launched this Substack a little under two years ago, the intention was for this to be where I produced all the different types of content that I enjoy and wanted to see more of in this space, but didn’t have a home for elsewhere.
For nearly two years, that’s exactly what I did, developing a weekly blueprint for Fight Week coverage that included a number of unique series, mixing in editorials and commentaries when they were needed, and spend a great deal of time talking about lesser-known talents, hopeful that I could introduce a couple fighters each year to a wider audience.
Over the last four months or so, Keyboard Kimura went from being a written newsletter to a more diverse digital publication, with more podcasts than written posts each week, plus a YouTube companion channel where you could actually watch me offer up the thoughts and ideas I was delivering here.
I gained the confidence to make those shifts from working with the crew at Severe MMA on their preview show every week, and generally building a deeper relationship with a few of those boys — namely Sean Sheehan, Ian O’Neill, and Harry Powell.
Harry became my co-host on The Next Day Takeaways, my behind the scenes producer as I learned how to record and post things myself, and one of my closest confidants. When he and Sean suggested that I bring all of my content to Severe going forward, it was something I had to seriously consider… not that it took me very long to make a decision.
My goal has always been to put out quality content, share the stories, ideas, insights, and information that I think is critical to know and understand heading into each event, and chronicle the journeys of the men and women that compete in the Octagon, and moving all my content to Severe MMA gives me the opportunity to do that in front of a much larger audience, from a much greater platform.
Nothing changes for me going forward except where you can find my content — all the videos will now be on the Severe MMA YouTube page, plus all the corresponding social media channels, as well as my Twitter, obviously.
I’m immeasurably grateful to all of you that followed my work here — subscribing, sharing the content, providing me with encouragement to keep trying new things and putting out more and more; I hope you’ll follow me to Severe MMA and all of our channels there because they already have a bunch of outstanding stuff they do.
Thank you so much.
