The UFC is back on Saturday with a classic “Hangover Card” featuring a quality light heavyweight main event between Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill, an intriguing welterweight pairing featuring Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal, and the TUF 30 finales, plus a smattering of other elements in the wake of UFC 277 last weekend in Dallas.
This is one that isn’t going to draw a lot of casual interest or generate a great deal of discussion from the major media outlets because there aren’t any real substantial names on the playbill.
But we’ve got you covered with a top-to-bottom look at the lineup and the questions that intrigue me about each matchup as we head towards Saturday’s return to the UFC APEX.
Spencer Card: (1) an event with a pair of ranked fighters in the main event and a hodgepodge of bouts between prospects, Contender Series graduates, Fighters I Can’t Quit, and like assembled on the undercard; (2) a card the most prominent voices covering the sport will either downplay or largely ignore; (3) a card where the names might not be familiar or formidable, but action will be entertaining nonetheless.
Hangover Card: a Spencer Card that follows a pay-per-view, where the interest amongst the general populous is even less because they’re still “hung over” from the much larger event the previous weekend.
